I love this little vase. I think because it contains the joy that I felt when I started at a new studio in 2018. It was a great spot, filled with enthusiastic potters and within walking distance of my house.
I named it for a place in Arizona that contains so many colors of dirt and rock. It has bright pinks, yellows, the maroon color of manganese, the chalky white of limestone, colors blending to look like blue. It is expansive. You could literally get lost there in a place with no trees.
It is said that works of art and craft will hold the makers vibration and sometimes this quality is part of what makes a particular piece so attractive. If this little landscape vase is one of those objects, then it holds things that I treasure and remember with happiness.
